MAAMP Requirements

For the purposes of standardization, consistency and sound scientific practices — we require that only one surveyor conduct the monthly surveys at a given site. Therefore, the first requirement is the ability to survey your designated site (at least) once per calendar month. Surveys need to occur 30 minutes or more after sunset.

The second requirement is the ability to pass the Amphibian Identification Quiz. This is a standard first set by USGS and the North American Amphibian Monitoring Program. The NAAMP quiz is entirely frog calls, as are the surveys. Our Metro Atlanta Amphibian Monitoring Program includes visual as well as sonic data, so the quiz tests your ability to ID amphibians by sight and sound.

Below is a practice quiz. If you create an account on the site, you will have access to the official quizzes you would need to pass in order to become an official MAAMP participant. If you have any questions, please contact the MAAMP Coordinator: coordinator@maamp.us
